Today there are less farms around, but the farms that are still around are huge
compared to the ones in the past. Farming is not an easy job to get into now the
best bets are horticultural and organic farming. Most farmers need previous
knowledge of farming by growing up on one or get secondary education. Most
farmers also need a knowledge of the new developments in agriculture. The job is
definitely more than a eight hour a-day job it is often 12-14 hours a day. The
pay can be good at some farms but very poor at others depending on size and
crop. Overall the work environment can weigh everything else out because of the
outdoor work environment and interest in the job.
